About Department

The community medicine is a field of medical sciences designed to make five star doctors with special skills like caregiver, decision maker, communicator, community leader and a good manager (WHO). The curriculum of the subject is designed in such a way that an undergraduate student can think epidemiologically, diagnose totally, treat comprehensively and be able to function as community and first contact physician

Our health centers viz Urban Health & Training Center (UHTC) and Rural Health & Training Center are our field practice areas for community diagnosis of health problems, to teach MBBS students about the socio-cultural environment and household health. Out of 376 hours, 148 hours are for theory and .The practical training starts from third semester, covers visits to centers of public health importance like sewage treatment plant, water treatment plant, dairy plant and factory etc, community field posting to know about relation between socio-cultural environment and household health; demonstration of specimens of entomology, parasitology, family planning, immunization and nutrition.

The department has adequate members of highly qualified FM & non-teaching staff.

The RHTC is fully equipped with OPDs, specialist clinic, labor room, inpatient facility (8 bedded separate male & female wards), seminar room, immunization room and laboratory. The residential facilities for interns and 30 students with functional mess and toilets are available as per the guidelines of Medical Council of India. The process of taking the sanction, from Director General Medical Education, UP, of attachment of three additional PHCs (Bisrakh, Dhankaur and Dadri) with RHTC has been meticulously dealt with. The UHTC is situated in Bhangel, Noida with OPDs, specialist clinics, laboratory and day care center. Mostly, services are provided free of charge.

The department is imparting training to MBBS students using all recent modalities. Regular class room activities include seminar, symposia, lectures and group discussions. The undergraduate students are involved in short term self financed low cost research projects to enhance their subject insight as well as innovative strategies for community betterment.

The institution is planning to initiate postgraduate degree and diploma courses in near future for which a good operational research laboratory with Horrock’s apparatus, water chlorine demand analyzer, autoclave and dissecting microscopes.
