With an aim to guide and mentor doctors to become good educators, School of Medical Sciences & Research, has a fully functional Medical education unit that regularly conducts faculty development programmes. As recommended by the medical council of India, faculty members trained at Regional center for faculty development, conduct three day basic course workshops in medical education technology. 

The objective of the workshops is to improve the knowledge and skills of faculty members in teaching and assessment. It aims at sensitization and training of doctors in carrying out their professional tasks, assist clinicians to acquire competency in communication and behavioral skills and update their knowledge using modern information and research methodology tools. This eventually leads to an improvement in the quality of teaching and learning. The entire process contributes to the improved competence of health professionals of the next generation. In addition, CMEs are also conducted at regular intervals to ensure that faculty members keep abreast of latest know how in medical sciences.
